An All-Girls High School in Buriram?

My favourite niece, currently in Grade 6, has come home today with a wish to attend an all-girls school in Buriram. She says she can board there and come home at weekends if she desires. Supposedly, it is a government-run school so not too expensive.

Can anybody across the border in Buriram give me any leads on this? A quick internet search has failed to produce any info as yet.

Bill, I have 2 daughters aged 6 and 10, Years 1 and 4 respectively. I have been looking closely at where to educate them when they turn 12/13 and need secondary education. I am not aware of any all girl boarding school anywhere in this area of Thailand. There is, however, a co-educational boarding college in Satuk, in the north east of Buriram Province. This is called the Princess Chulabhorn College and is sponsored by Her Royal Highness. See: http://pccbr.ac.th/pccbr/ . The college's aim is to nuture gifted children with specialisations in mathemathics and science who will become future leaders in their respective scientific fields. The competition to enter the college is very strong and less than 1 in 10 students are accepted for the scholarships. Unless my daughters get stuck in and excel in these two subjects over the next few years I doubt that they will be successful should they so apply.

That leaves me to consider other schooling options in Surin which we will research further over the next couple of years. The obvious choice at the moment is the Sirindhorn Secondary School, which is adjacent to their present primary school, Anubarnsurin. Our current thoughts are to enroll the girls in the full English Programme at that school when they start their secondary education. I understand this is in the region of 70,000 Baht/year although the total cost may have risen since last enquiring.

There are no boarding schools in Surin as far as I know. Many children in secondary education in Surin get together and share rented accommodation around the town. I do not know if any of this is properly regulated or whether there is any accommodation that is supervised by adults. Unfurnished houses are available from 3,000 Baht/month and upwards. A relatively smart, furnished room in a new apartment block costs around 5,000 Baht/month, plus electrics and water on top. Two girls sharing could split the costs. However, while this undoubtedly happens I doubt that this option would be suitable for a relatively young, pre-teen girl.

The Sirindhorn fees were correct 6 months ago. My 2 children sat the entrance exam for the full English programme, but failed miserably. Most places went to those that had prior connections with the school group. There was some suggestion that I may be able to make an under the table payment to have my son admitted. Apart from being against such practices, I decided he would likely languish behind the others if accepted, and it would be money wasted. He passed his entrance exam for the better of the 2 secondary schools in Prakhonchai, and seems very happy there.

I can confirm that there were no boarding facilities, nor regulated/supervised accommodation in Surin. It is believed however that some teachers do accommodate 1/2 students, so there would be an element of supervision.

Check up Marie Anusorn School. Nung's little sister went there, but I don't know if they have boarding facilities.

That's the same College I highlighted. I think you will find that there is a very strict entrance examination and they only want the 'creme de la creme'. A young girl that I know applied last year and she was not successful.

Sorry Nomad. I failed to look back. Full credit to you.

I believe if I saw Croc, Nick and Co-Co sitting on a bench anywhere in Buriram with tequila cocktails in their hands :) it would be across the street from an "all girls" school (as opposed to the "all boys" one) , one way or another 'Aqualung, my friend'.

Sitting on a park bench
Eyeing little girls
With bad intent
Snot running down his nose
Greasy fingers smearing shabby clothes
Drying in the cold sun
Watching as the frilly panties run
Feeling like a dead duck
Spitting out pieces of his broken luck

Sun streaking cold
An old man wandering lonely
Taking time
The only way he knows
Leg hurting bad,
As he bends to pick a dog end
Goes down to a bog to
Warm his feet

Feeling alone
The army's up the rode
Salvation a la mode and
A cup of tea
Aqualung my friend
Don't start away uneasy
You poor old sod
You see it's only me

Do you still remember
December's foggy freeze
When the ice that
Clings on to your beard is
Screaming agony
And you snatch your rattling last breaths
With deep-sea diver sounds,
And the flowers bloom like
Madness in the spring

Sun streaking cold
An old man wandering lonely
Taking time
The only way he knows
Leg hurting bad,
As he bends to pick a dog end
Goes down to a bog to
Warm his feet

Feeling alone
The army's up the rode
Salvation a la mode and
A cup of tea
Aqualung my friend
Don't start away uneasy
You poor old sod
You see it's only me

Aqualung my friend
Don't just start away uneasy
You poor old sod
You see it's only me

Sitting on a park bench
Eying little girls
With bad intent
Snot running down his nose
Greasy fingers smearing shabby clothes
Drying in the cold sun
Watching as the frilly panties run
Feeling like a dead duck
Spitting out pieces of his broken luck

At least they learn how to sing, prance on a stage and shake their booty for the enjoyment of others.
Ahh, a righteous education indeed. ;;girl;;

Hopefully Uni will teach them how to step off the stage and try to become 'self-sufficient'...(hopefully).

Aaaah! Now I understand the words and the background to the photo,

Sitting on a night club bench
Eyeing little girls
With bad intent
