Priceless Buri Ram lintel found in San Francisco

A Buri Ram-based conservation group has kick-started a campaign to press for the return of a "lintel", a decorative object above a gate, believed to have been smuggled out of Thailand decades ago.
The Lintel was on exhibition at the Chong Moon Lee museum in San Francisco. It was believed to have been stolen from Nong Hong temple in Buri Ram's Non Din Daeng district some 50 years ago.

I find this story particularly very interesting, as my wife's 90 year old grand father was a witness to the theft.
When I first met him he asked me if I was American as he hated them for the theft of this Lintel.
He went on to say a US helicopter landed nearby, hacked it off the temple and flew away. All this happened in the 1960's circa Vietnam war.
I can't wait to tell him it has been found and will most surely be returned in time.
