Traffic Warning - 23rd to 25th May 2017

The King's sister is visiting Surin during this period and will be giving rice to farmers at the Town Hall on the morning of 25th May. We have been advised by AnubarnSurin School that the main roads into town will be blocked off from 07.00 on the morning of the 25th. All children are to be dropped off before 07.00 to avoid these road closures. No idea when the roads will reopen but hope its before 16.30 when we have to collect our children.

If you wish to avoid long delays and blocked roads suggest you give Surin a wide berth on the morning of 25th May.

A 69-year-old woman was found dead on Wednesday morning apparently of hypothermia.

Pol Captain Ekkachai Duangket, deputy inspector of Prasat police station, was informed of the death of Ubol Yingmeedee at 6.15 am.

Her body was found under a blanket on a bed in her bedroom at her house in Moo 16 village in Tambon Kung-an in Surin’s Prasat district. No sign of physical assault was found.

Lets keep safe, none of us should be sleeping alone until this cold spell passes

STOP PRESS

My wife left home at 4 p.m. today on a 3 km journey to pick up her daughter from school. However, due to the heavy rains and high winds she did not arrive home until after 6 p.m. The sudden thunderstorm and high winds after she left home for school wreaked havoc in Surin this afternoon. The main drag past the schools, the one with the new lights in the center reservation, may have been the epi-center from what my wife tells me. Many of the light fittings cascaded down to the road during the storm today, broken glass everywhere. My eldest daughter was finishing her class in Sirindhorn at 4 p.m. and was trapped by the sudden tempest that arrived soon after. Lots of windows were blown out of the school buildings, glass everywhere, and children were huddled in the sheltered spaces in their rooms to avoid the horizontal rain coming through the now open windows. Apparently, Anubarnsurin, next door to Sirindhorn, also bore the brunt of the storm. They had been getting ready to open their doors for the start of the new school year next Tuesday. Lots of windows blown in and some roofing gone too. Don't know how much damage was done in this afternoon's storm but I suspect it is pretty widespread. A big clean up operation will be required to get the schools ready for open doors next Tuesday.

Shock and Horror I dropped of my visiting friend at his hotel Martina last night and after crossing the rail-line I was besieged by BIB to do a "Breathalyzer" This is a first for me.
So take this as a warning guys. They are out there and on a Wednesday night for goodness sake.

Bye the way I was under the limit. I had only had one large bottle of Leo with a meal. All smiles from the copper and me, when the machine light went green.
I knew I was under. Takes more then one bottle to get me over .05.

This has really put the fear of Buddha into me now.
This country is not what it used to be. I just hope they follow through and reduce that horrendous road toll.
