The Nation

BANGKOK: -- A Bangkok-Ubon Ratchathani air-conditioned bus overturned on a road in Buri Ram's Prakone Chai district at 2 am Thursday, injuring 40 passengers.

Thirteen of them, including two kids under 5 years old, were badly injured. The injured were rushed to the Prakone Chai Hospital and six with severe conditions were passed on to the Buri Ram Hospital.

The driver told police that the road was slippery because in was under construction and there were heavy rains at the moment.

At least I now know that the Prachonchai Boys are from Prakone Chai.

Buses dont turn over that easily, unless excessive speed is involved.

Last night's heavy rains did cause a run off of earth onto other carriageways, so the roads were no doubt slippery, requiring careful and cautious driving.

There's the Kicker Nick, " Careful and cautious driving ".
Not widely known in Thailand, unfortunately.

You guys trying to upset me. I always thought the night-time buses were pushing it a little and that's why I now use the day-time service. I tried the night-time service once and once only. Scary!

I am traveling to Bangkok and return again this Sunday / Tuesday. Luckily I have booked the day-time NCA bus departing at 0925. Fortunately, its the last of my weekly visits for a little while.

And here is a little did you know? The bus timetable for NCA between Surin and Bangkok reads the same both ways. The departure times out of Bangkok are the same as the departure times out of Surin. I think I am right when I say that, it certainly seems that way to me.
