Yesterday morning we were offered a tour by some very good friends of the Royal National Park Wildlife and Conservation Department (tree Huggers and protectors). This tour was at the Huaituptun-Huaisamran Wildlife Sanctuary at the Huay Ta Ka Dam. This lake is about 3 km south of Kap Chom on the west side of the 214 with the Thai restaurants on the lake. We joined 80 school kids from Tha Tum. On this tour we were escorted by the Thai Army and the the Royal Thai Boarder Police (black shirts) and yes they were armed. We were afforded scenery and views that very few have enjoyed. Most of theses photos were taken on the border with the international border only meters way.

These next three photos are of a fully functional army encampment 200 meters from the border.

The valley in the back ground is Cambodia and the border is 5 meters in back of this spot.

The ridge in the upper left hand corner is Cambodia and O'Schmac and the casinos are on the other side.

Just a short note.. The Tree Huggers as I call them along with the Thai Army and Border Police have become excellent customers and friends of M&D Coffee. These photos were taken only 10.7 KM from the coffee shop..

You do deliveries getlost??

The forest scenery and border camp look much like that at Ta Meuan, 20 or so km further south, but you don't get a view into Cambodia there. Last time we went to Ta Meuan, a border guard had to tag along with us as we toured the site, but the first time, there was a solitary border guard there... and he offered to take us into Cambodia to see a waterfall 1 km away. Greatly daring, we stepped into Cambodia through the border fence, but declined the offer of a further incursion!

Do you know if Ta Meuan is open these days, gotlost?
