Tax residency

I had a somewhat sinister letter from Natwest, UK, today. It was from Customer Tax Operations and asked me to complete a form detailing where I am tax resident. It also detailed information they hold on me about Portugal and Thailand. This is required, they say, as the UK has agreed to share such info with other states.

Now, on a teacher's pension, it is unlikely I figure large in the Panama leaks. However.... just wondering if anyone else has had similar contact. I have nothing to hide and can complete the forms with a clear conscience but.... just wondering and feeling a little bit uncomfortable.

This is a new one on me.

Johnb is clearly tax resident in both Portugal and the UK and it appears that they will start sharing information from September 2017. Thailand is not a signatory to the sharing agreement, and whilst tax is deducted at source on most Thai Bank Savings accounts, most peoiple do not have a tax ID number.
