Great pics GL. Thanks for posting.
In the ninth picture down showing the main Chong Chom market along the 214 is a large green-tile roof building. That is the main Customs office for the district.
I believe they only deal with Customs and Duties and leave all immigration and situations involving human beings to KCI.
(By the way the Customs computer system is properly up and running.)

Its the Choeng Chom Custom House and deals with all goods that are trucked to and from Cambodia. I have seen as many as 12 each 18 wheelers waiting in the yard.

After a very quick visit yesterday to KC Immigration for a 90 day report, we scooted off to Ta Kao in search of a Thai lunch. That failed, and we went to have a look at the wildlife sanctuary (on the right, immediately after the lakeside restaurants, heading back to the main road.) I went there a year or two ago, and saw some local wild animals in their classroom (stuffed, fur and feathered varieties, not skirted.) The moths had stripped them almost bare this year, but (and this is the point, at last) the chopper in GL's pics was parked between one of the cabins and the lake.

The area your are referring to is the HQ of the Department of National, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (aka tree huggers) as I jokingly call them. The two ladies in the photos work for them in PR but you do not want to meet them on patrol in the dark as they have been trained on the use of a M16 or AK 47 along with other devices. If you would go about another 6 km further than their HQ you come to a serious army outpost that overlooks O'Smach. Yes you can go up to it. It ha a fantastic view of Cambodia.
