Hi, I was wondering if anybody has any information about the legalities of digging a domestic water bore on your own property in Thailand?

Is this allowed? or a No No?

If it is allowed with little or no restrictions then click this link:
Water Well Helpline Its just one of many sites offering information of how to DIY a water bore inexpensively

I believe permission is required from the local amphur -but THIS IS THAILAND!

If you live in a village rather than a town, then people just do it.

My bore is 44 metres deep. The team that installed it complete with a deep well pump charged 14000bt inclusive and it took less than a day.

That was 4/5 years ago, and it's worked perfectly ever since.

Thanks Nick, can you remember the name of the team that did the job?
that sounds like a pretty good deal...................thanks

Agree with Nick, ask the local family, everyone in the local village will know a guy that drills the wells and puts the pumps in,if not they don't they will know someone who does. There is a tread in the Building section about drilling for water.....:)
