A fugitive murder suspect, who had been on the run for 15 years, was arrested in Surin province for a murder case dating back to 2008.

The suspect Preecha, who had been operating a grilled meatball stall while in hiding, was apprehended at his residence in Sri Khoraphum district, Surin, on orders from the Provincial Police Region 5.

The case that put Preecha on the police radar happened on October 21, 2008, when a woman working at a karaoke bar in Chiang Mai was murdered. The victim’s body was found three days later, dumped in a urea bag on the roadside near an entrance to a mill on a hill in Ban Pong, Hang Dong district, Chiang Mai.

Investigations led police to the 45 year old Preecha and two other men, who had allegedly invited the victim for a drink after work. An altercation ensued which resulted in the woman’s death.

It took 15 years to track down and abduct Adolph Eichmann out of Argentina to stand trial too. He was found guilty on all of the charges, and was executed by hanging on 1 June 1962.
He was found guilty on all of the charges, and was executed by hanging on 1 June 1962. Thailand does not the have the balls for capital punisment.

Thailand still has the death penalty.
The last execution by shooting was on 11 December 2002 and the first execution by lethal injection was on 12 December 2003.

The most recent execution occurred on 18 June 2018, when the death sentence of a 26-year-old man guilty of robbery resulting in death was carried out.

That's only 5 years ago, Canada hasn't executed anyone in 60+ years. The last two executions took place in 1962.

In 1959 a 14 year old boy was convicted for rape and murder of another child. The murder took place on a military base and the youth was convicted in a closed court given his age. Sex murderers were commonly sentenced to death but something was not right about this case, military police under pressure to keep the name of the RCAF clean, a closed court and the youth and his parents were extremely vocal about his innocence.

The conviction was overturned eventually and he was freed. DNA tests done in the 1990s found that he was not the murderer nor rapist and that an innocent child had nearly been wrongfully executed.

Public opinion turned against executions and life in prison became the ultimate penalty.
A life term actually means 25 years before a convict may apply for parole.

Perhaps the judge would rule that 15 years selling meatballs was sufficient punishment?

Looks like he was eating a few too many of his own meatballs, out of remorse?
