Sanook reported on a cremation ceremony in Surin on Friday in which two monks attacked each other in full view of other clergy and relatives.

It happened in Jorm Phra district of Surin in NE Thailand.

Phra Ek and Phra Art went for each other in their robes.

Monk Ek said there was a disagreement about who would sit in the front row.

The abbot wondered if the pair had some previous beef that led up to the shameful incident.

The mother of monk Ek said she wouldn't press charges as she feared bad karma.

Surely it should be the Wat that gets any donation, not the monks, full time or just the weekenders!

The envelopes are given directly to each monk not to the temple and different amounts are given according to seniority.

Sadly, often the first to call on the home of the deceased in the village are money lenders, who will gladly hold your chanote as collateral and lend you the funds needed.

The second visitor will be the " casino crew", the all night gambling is given in our community.

Pat was saying, the "donations " are for the monks prayers, not the Wat.

Cannot understand why believers pay someone to pray for them who likely as not never met the person they are praying for.. DIY is best!
I think the words of that loopy Orange people leader, Bagwhan Shri Rashneesh sum it all up for me.
" The easiest thing to sell is something completely intangable ".
