Anyone know a good Tiler in the area?

Discussion in 'Prasat Area' started by Wayne Thompson, Jul 1, 2019.

  1. The mother-in-laws house in Baan Tang Mutt, 30 mins south of prasat, has the roof and walls and electrics done. Now we need to do tiles, windows and doors.

We left it for a while to get funds ready and now the builder says he is booked out for months.

Does anyone know of someone who is a decent tiler in the area?
    (and who might be available)

30 mins south of Prasat is out of area for most of us. Sounds like you are living pretty close to Kap Choeng. Maybe @gotlost is your best bet for finding someone to do the work required.

The bad news she has no idea. I need more info as to your ml location. The people I trust are booked. Best it to find somebody local about her home. Do you pass through Kap Choeng to visit her?

Exactly the response I got from my lovely wife..."every village should have a proper tile person", and since we are 12 km northwest of Prasat you are not local to my references. I also couldn't find Baan Tan Mutt, and it would help to know a little better where you need the help.

  6. Sorry I'm an idiot. I got it wrong "Ban Naeng Mut"

    Naeng Mut, Kap Choeng District

but yeah it is practically Cambodia.

I will try to get her mum to ask in the village but she is a bit hopeless.

We are trying to get it finished so we can stay there for a month in october. We will see how that goes.

    Thanks for the help though!!
    Very much appreciated.

Welcome to BoB! That's Back of Beyond in plain English. That is out in the wilds of Surin province for sure. No wonder we could not find where you are intending to live. Do they have Internet down there?

@Bandersnatch gave you a message in the shoutbox: "Hi Wayne, if you still need a good tiler pm me. Location will be a big factor as they will need to get to you on a 125cc."

I suspect you are too far out in the wilds for his tiler to get to you on a daily basis, must be the best part of 100 kilometers from Surin and on a 125cc too, but give @Bandersnatch a P.M. anyway.

Okay, got it where the village is, and it does appear difficult to have good craftsmen in such a small location. My best suggestion is as stated before...look for someone in Kap Choeng, as that's the closest village of any size. You might try a building materials store for a recommendation, maybe have your wife or relative there call one that sells tile and see if they can help you.

My advise for finding help.. Go to this winery and sample. The owner and his wife can give you some advise.. Contact details are in the below photos. Your about 20km from a very good winery.

The Khmer have been know to lob BM 21 rockets at the area as that area was evacuated (2011) and an evacuation camp of 5,000 was set up across from the Prasat DLT.

Another source.. On the highway 224 there are a few relative new local DIY stores. Stop and chat. 10-1 they do know especially if you buy from them.

  15. Thanks guys.

Ok so it is as baan nok as I thought.

I like that @gotlost recommended a winery as consolation.

We have been in talks with SCG in surin who have been good help (provided we buy the building supplies from them of course).

Anyone around in September or October and wants a drink?

Sorry Wayne, too far for me and I never drink and drive. Besides, I am usually busy every day running my 2 daughters around for their educational requirements, including Saturdays and Sundays.

  19. I was thinking of heading to Ryans Bar on one (or more) of the weekends and staying the night. I had good food there last time and the kids loved the pool.

Might head to Surin city for a bit.

Very easy for me to get to Ryan's, just give me a day or so advance notice please. I don't worry about the drink/drive much, the lovely wife usually drives and doesn't drink but rarely.
