Could anyone tell me what benefit I could gain from "joining" Pay Pal?

I made an enquiry about a year ago and they have emailed me every few weeks ever since.

In the past I did a lot of rare coin collecting, and did quite a lot of buying/selling through eBay and using PayPal. They are a good method of paying for buying and selling because they are reliable and trusted. Depending on what you intend to be using PayPal for would determine if they are good for you.

I have been with PayPal for several years and find it is a very quick and easy method of paying for goods or services worldwide. I have a standing instruction with Paypal to pay my monthly subscription to Netflix. Easy to set up and hands off thereafter. They provide a monthly statement of account plus an email every time a payment is made. There is also the protection that Paypal offers if goods or services are not as advertised. They also have a Buyer Protection Policy. From their literature:





A couple of years ago we went on holiday to Pattaya. On arrival at our accommodation we found it was not to the standard advertised. We had paid for a specific apartment and were shown to another that was of a significantly lower standard. I contacted the Paypal disputes center and the total cost was refunded without hesitation and we did not have to haggle with the owner at all. In the space of an afternoon we had left the booked accommodation and found alternate accommodation without financial loss. I have also received full refunds for Internet services that were not as advertised. Good protection to have when buying through Lazada or eBay for example.

Surprisingly, BeIN Sports Connect, the Premier League + football provider, was one of the few Internet services that did not accept Paypal. Paying for the service was a pain in the you know where and required me to make a personal visit to Tesco Lotus to pay the 1,400 baht annual subscription. Can't help but think they lost many customers because they had not set up Paypal as a payment method.

In summary, a very quick and easy to use payment service with a built-in buyer protection policy. No complaints from me.

As Nomad mentioned, PayPal's Buyer Protection is excellent. I needed only once, I had purchased a certain coin for a couple hundred dollars on eBay and paid through PayPal, but when I received the coin it was not what I had bought...close, but worth about 1/10th of the actual one.
PayPal refunded my money immediately, I had to return the coin to the seller, and they pursued him. Turns out he had a habit of doing this, which I learned about after I learned how to investigate sellers on eBay.
